This famous route on the Lofoten islands takes you to an impressive beach flanked by dark granite cliffs and overlooking the Norwegian Sea.
I usually start from the car park on the road to Selfjord, but you can also start this hike from the village of Fredvang. Even though the maximum altitude of this hike is only 270 m (unless, of course, you decide to climb to the top of Ryten), the frequent slopes you have to climb mean that you will certainly not be cold at the finish.
Kvalvika, or the Whale Bay, is one of the finest beaches in the Lofoten Islands!
You can climb to the top of Ryten on this hike. If you choose this option take the path that climbs Ryten from: long: 13° 7" 4" - lat: 68° 5" 3" (just below the little lake of Forsvatnet). You should add another 90 minutes to climb to the top of Ryten..
